Sewing Café Lesson Teaches Sustainable T-Shirt Making with Professional Techniques
Join a sewing lesson at the Craft Café and create your own T-shirt using sustainable organic fabrics from the store. During this session, participants work with the Picot T-shirt or Stem T-shirt patterns from the De Steek collection while learning essential techniques for sewing stretchy fabrics. The lesson provides a structured introduction to garment making with a focus on practical skills.
Students are introduced to using the serger for creating seams and finishing techniques on the sewing machine. They learn how to cut stretchy fabrics, work with sewing patterns, create basic seams, finish hems, and complete the neckline, with or without a collar. Each step is guided to ensure confidence while working with more advanced sewing tools and methods.
The lesson is designed for both complete beginners and those with some prior sewing experience who wish to refresh their skills. Classes are conducted in Dutch and English, making them accessible to a wide range of participants. The course also accommodates sizes ranging from XS to XXL, ensuring inclusivity for all learners.
From January, all Sewing Café workshops, courses, and lessons will be held at the Amsterdam West location. The new setting will provide a creative and inspiring space for learning and skill development. Participants can look forward to a supportive environment where sustainable fashion and hands-on creativity come together.
