Sewing Lesson: Skirt (Amsterdam West)

Sewing Café Workshop Guides Participants in Creating Custom Organic Fabric Skirts

Visitors can join a four-hour sewing lesson at the Sewing Café and create their own skirt using materials from the store. Participants are offered a selection of organic fabrics and can choose between two patterns from the De Steek collection: a circle skirt or a wrap skirt, allowing for a personalized creative experience.

This beginner-friendly workshop provides hands-on experience using both the sewing machine and the serger. Participants learn essential garment construction skills, including how to cut fabric, follow a sewing pattern, create seams and finishings, and complete hems, facings, waistbands, and closures such as press buttons or zippers.

The class is suitable for all levels, ranging from complete beginners to those with some sewing experience who wish to refresh or strengthen their skills. Instruction is offered in both Dutch and English, ensuring that all participants can follow along comfortably and confidently throughout the session.

With a wide range of sizes available, each participant can create a skirt that fits well and feels personal. By the end of the workshop, attendees leave with a finished garment and the confidence to continue sewing independently at home, building on the techniques learned in the studio.
