Sewing Café Lesson Introduces Stretch Fabric Techniques and Overlock Machine Skills

Visitors can gain valuable experience working with stretchy fabrics and the overlock machine in an engaging sewing lesson at the Sewing Café. During this three-hour session, participants create their own flared leggings using all organic materials provided, making it a practical and hands-on introduction to stretch fabric sewing.

The lesson is especially suitable for beginners who are working with stretchy fabrics for the first time. Participants learn how to cut stretchy fabric accurately, follow a sewing pattern, create basic seams, and finish a waistband with elastic, while also gaining confidence in handling essential sewing tools and techniques.

Additional instruction includes learning how to finish hems on stretch fabrics and effectively use a serger, ensuring a well-rounded understanding of garment construction. The session is guided by fashion designer Andrea van der Kuil, making it both educational and professionally supported for all attendees.

Classes are conducted in both Dutch and English and are suitable for complete beginners as well as those with some prior sewing experience who wish to refresh their skills. The lesson accommodates sizes XS to XL, and from January onward, all Sewing Café workshops, courses, and lessons will take place at the Amsterdam West location, offering a creative and inspiring learning environment.
