Always wanted to start sewing but don’t know where to begin. Join our beginner sewing lesson in our Sewing Café, where you will learn the basics while creating your very first project: a simple yet stylish tote bag. Each session includes a kit with organic cotton fabric and hemp straps, with options to choose your preferred colors. During the lesson, you will learn essential skills such as threading the sewing machine, cutting fabric, creating basic seams with straight stitch, finishing seams with zig-zag stitch, hemming, and making squared corners. This hands-on session provides a supportive environment to explore sewing and gain confidence on the machine.

The lesson is guided by fashion designer Andrea van der Kuil and is suitable for complete beginners as well as those with some experience who wish to refresh their skills. Classes are conducted in Dutch and English and take place in a friendly, collaborative environment where participants work alongside others on similar beginner projects. From January, all Sewing Café workshops, courses, and lessons will be held at our Amsterdam West location, providing a creative and inspiring space to learn.
