Cycling Ecopista of Vouga, full-day from Coimbra

This full day bike tour follows the historic Vale do Vouga railway line also known as the Vale das Voltas line famous for its winding route through lush valleys and hills. The line originally connected Espinho to Viseu over 140 kilometers and was inaugurated in 1914 to transport agricultural goods from the Vouga Valley. The journey combines history with nature, offering sweeping views, tunnels, bridges, and a glimpse of one of Portugals most scenic railway paths.

After pickup in Coimbra, participants are transferred by car to Viseu where the 65-kilometer downhill bike route begins. The ride passes farmland vineyards oak forests and scenic overlooks of the Vouga River Valley, following the natural curves and slopes of the old railway. The tour ends in Sernada do Vouga where participants are collected and returned to Coimbra, enjoying an unforgettable combination of history, nature, and cycling.
