This full day tour takes you to the Dao Demarcated Region a high plateau surrounded by mountains where vineyards grow between 400 and 700 meters of altitude. Unique soil climate and grape varieties give rise to wines of great elegance and character. Often referred to as the Portuguese Borgonha the Dao region is known for velvety full bodied red wines with excellent acidity and strong aging potential. White wines stand out for their freshness balance and fruity aromas making this region one of the most respected wine areas in Portugal.
The experience begins with a visit to one of the oldest and most emblematic wineries in the region where you will taste local wines and stroll through the surrounding vineyards. Lunch follows featuring a traditional regional dish that highlights local gastronomy. In the afternoon the tour continues with a visit to a modern winery representing innovation in architecture equipment and production techniques. After wine tasting and exploration the tour returns to Coimbra.
