This full day bike tour combines cycling, wine, and gastronomy in the Bairrada region, known as the Portuguese capital of sparkling wines. After pickup in Coimbra participants are transferred by van with bikes to Curia, the headquarters of the Rota da Bairrada. The guided bike route covers 52 kilometers on a circular route of intermediate difficulty, mixing secondary roads and dirt tracks that pass vineyards and wine estates. Riders will experience the terroir firsthand meet producers, and enjoy scenic views of this historic wine region.
The tour includes stops at two traditional wineries with wine and sparkling wine tastings. Lunch features the regional specialty Leitão Assado à Bairrada with an alternative dish available for those who prefer. After lunch the ride continues through vineyards to the second winery for more tastings. At the end of the tour bikes are packed in the vehicle, and participants are returned to Coimbra, completing a unique day of cycling, wine, and local culture.
