This half day journey takes you from Coimbra into the mountains of Serra da Lousa to explore the traditional Schist Villages built by shepherd communities. The tour begins in Cerdeira a peaceful village surrounded by forest and mountain landscapes. Known for its artistic spirit Cerdeira is home to arts and crafts initiatives that blend creativity with nature. Carefully restored houses built with schist stone clay and wood are perfectly integrated into the environment creating a quiet and inspiring atmosphere that reflects rural life of the past.
The experience continues to the village of Candal set on a sunny hillside with open views over the valley. Its narrow streets and viewpoints offer excellent photo opportunities. The final stop is Talasnal the largest and best preserved of the villages where steep alleys stairways and balconies create a timeless setting. Here nature and human craftsmanship come together in harmony. Throughout the villages visitors can find local products such as liqueurs honey wines sausages and handmade crafts. After this journey through history culture and mountain scenery the tour returns to Coimbra.

Oleh

The legendary village was empty when I visited it. The most interesting thing is that there is a walking trail from the castle of Lousa and most of the tourists don't know about its existence.
Hugo

One of the beautiful schist villages in Lousã that you'll fall in love with as soon as you arrive ☺️
Artur

The passage through the road, almost escapes us the presence of the Casal Novo. The village develops in the slope fold, in a sharp slope, oriented to the north, and the tree surrounding the village does not allow one to perceive its profile. The urban mesh corresponds almost exclusively to the axis created by the path that crosses the village in the ascending-descendant direction, and that the connection to the Sanctuary of Nª Srª da Piedade. Two or three perpendicular alleys and a few side entrances in public enjoyment spaces break the continuum of buildings that, on one and the other side, are curved. From the thin of the village you can observe Lousã and its castle.
Pedro

Gorgeous views of the surrounding landscape, though perhaps not quite as impactful as those of Talasnal or Chiqueiro. It sits on many of the hiking routes in the area, so do make sure you stop and take a breather.
laercio

Se loved it. It is so calm and you can enjoy a beautiful view of the citie.
