The experience takes place inside an elegant early 1900s building, in a spacious Genoese-style apartment featuring large living rooms and a modern, fully equipped kitchen. Here, the stage is set for an authentic culinary journey focused on creating the perfect Genoese pesto. Using a traditional marble mortar, fresh Genovese DOP basil, pine nuts, extra virgin olive oil, garlic, salt, Parmigiano Reggiano, and Pecorino cheese, participants will be guided through the process of crafting a flavorful and balanced pesto. With a blend of skill, dexterity, and attentive guidance from the foodteller Fabio Bongiorno, the session becomes an engaging and interactive challenge, ideal for couples, friends, or groups seeking a hands-on cooking experience.
Once the pesto is prepared, the experience continues with a toast of Ligurian Vermentino wine, followed by tasting the freshly made pesto paired with artisanal trofie pasta. Guests will also enjoy a delightful aperitif featuring focaccia and a variety of typical Ligurian bruschetta, allowing them to savor the region’s flavors in an authentic setting. Amazing food and warm hospitality! I ate here every day during my week in Sestri Levante, and Fabio even arranged a fantastic pasta and pesto-making class for me and my friends. A true Italian experience!

Amazing private class by chef Fabio Learned how to make Ligurian pesto from the scratch ! Totally recommend 👌

(Let me begin by saying that this was the "Pasta Experience" at Turin in Sestri Levante and not the "Pesto Experience." The "Pasta Experience" is new to Turin and sites aren't yet updated to reflect this new class.) Five stars don't begin to do this experience justice! For almost 2 hours four of us were led by an incredibly talented and fun team in making tagliatelle, taglialini, corsetti, and gnocchi. We mixed the ingredients, kneaded and rolled the doughs, learned how to cut and form the various shapes, and striped our gnocchi, all while sipping a delicious house wine in a friendly, fun, and jovial setting. Fabio and his staff were welcoming, easy-going, informative, and so much fun! One member of our group had begun this class feeling out of his comfort zone, but within minutes was having the time of his life and became a huge fan of Turin, the staff, and the experience. When the pasta lesson was complete we were led to a lovely table outside to sip more wine, chat with the staff, and await the serving of our four freshly cooked pastas with four different house-made sauces. The gnocchi were presented with pesto, the corsetti with a butter-sage sauce, the taglialini with a luscious tomato sauce, and the tagliatelle with salsa di noci (walnut sauce). Each was spectacular! All of this - plus recipes! - was included in the price of the “Pasta Experience.” We were treated like royalty throughout the night, and the experience and price really couldn’t be beat. It’s a must-do, for sure!

What an amazing morning. Fabio was so helpful and knowledgeable about pesto. We loved every minute of it and are planning to make our own when home. Fabio also took lots of photos while we made the pesto and sent them after. An added bonus. It was such an enjoyable experience and one of the best on our trip

I loved this pesto class, held in a gorgeous trattoria in Sestri Levante. Fabio was brilliant, so warm & engaging and full of passion for Ligurian food. And the pesto was exceptional!! I am going to bore my friends & family senseless now by making pesto constantly. Like all Italian cooking, it was simple, delicious, made with incredible local ingredients. I won’t be able to buy a jar from a supermarket ever again! Thanks Fabio for doing the class in English as I have no Italian other than ‘assolutamente fantastic’ (which at least sums up my experience!) I also ate at the Trattoria a few times on holiday with my family, brilliant staff and excellent food. Not to be missed!
