Mount Etna Volcanological Observatory Tour
This full day Mount Etna experience lasts approximately eight hours and offers an easy excursion for guests aged four and above. The journey begins with hotel pickup before traveling through Giarre, Santa Venerina, Milo, Fornazzo, and the scenic Strada Mareneve.
The route includes a visit to a lava cave and a technical stop at the Rifugio Alpino. From Piano Provenzana, guests board specially equipped 4x4 vehicles and travel along volcanic trails to the Volcanological Observatory at approximately 2,800 meters.
At the upper area, guests can admire views toward the summit craters and explore the new craters created during the 2002 eruption. The return journey to Piano Provenzana is by 4x4 vehicle before continuing to the Rifugio Alpino for lunch.
Lunch at the refuge is not included. Hiking shoes and a windbreaker are mandatory, and suitable clothing is strongly recommended. The excursion is not recommended for people with heart or respiratory problems. If the minimum number of participants is not reached, the tour may be canceled with a refund.
