Mount Etna Summit Crater Trek
This guided volcanic trekking experience lasts approximately five hours, with around 4.5 hours dedicated to the excursion. The adventure begins at Piano Provenzana at an altitude of 1,810 meters, where participants meet their Alpine or Volcanology Guide and receive a safety briefing.
The journey continues by 4x4 off road vehicle to approximately 2,960 meters. From there, trekking begins toward the highest reachable point of the Summit Craters at around 3,300 meters. The route covers approximately 5 kilometers in total and has medium to high difficulty.
After reaching the upper area, participants descend to a lower altitude for a snack or packed lunch break. The trek then continues until reaching the 4x4 vehicles, followed by a descent back to Piano Provenzana. Departure and return times are agreed upon in advance.
The excursion is available year round except during winter and is suitable for participants aged 13 and above. Good physical preparation is required. The experience is not recommended for people with cardiovascular or respiratory conditions, high blood pressure, vertigo, pregnant women, or children under 13. The activity may be canceled with a refund if the minimum group size is not reached.
