Etna Summit Crater Trek

Experience an unforgettable trek across the northern slopes of Mount Etna, one of Europe's highest active volcanoes. Starting from Piano Provenzana at 1800 meters, the adventure combines a 4x4 ascent with challenging high altitude hiking. The dramatic volcanic landscape offers a memorable opportunity to experience Etna's powerful natural environment and remarkable scenery.

The journey begins with a 4x4 ride from Piano Provenzana toward an altitude of approximately 2800 meters. From there, continue on foot toward the summit craters at around 3300 meters. The route reaches the Central Crater and Bocca Nuova, where hikers can explore the extraordinary volcanic surroundings and observe the impressive landscape shaped by Etna's ongoing activity.

After exploring the summit area, begin the descent while passing near the Northeast Crater and continuing toward the spectacular Valle del Leone. The route then leads to the Pizzi Deneri volcano observatory at approximately 2800 meters. From here, board the 4x4 vehicles for the return journey to Piano Provenzana.

This intermediate level experience is designed for hikers prepared for demanding high altitude terrain and changing temperatures. The mountain guide service is covered by the fee, while the 4x4 return bus ticket costs 60 euros per person and is paid separately. Hiking shoes, helmet, telescopic poles, and a windbreaker are available as part of the experience.
