Fátima Sanctuary & Pastorinhos Village, half-day from Coimbra

This half day tour from Coimbra takes you to the Sanctuary of Fatima one of the most important centers of Christian pilgrimage and Catholic devotion in the world. The Sanctuary preserves the memory of the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima to the three shepherd children Lucia dos Santos Francisco Marto and Jacinta Marto in 1917. Recognized nationally and internationally it holds the status of National Shrine and welcomes millions of pilgrims each year who come seeking faith reflection and spiritual connection.

The visit begins in Aljustrel also known as Valinhos the small village where the shepherd children lived. Here you will experience the simple rural environment that shaped their lives. The tour then continues to Cova de Iria where the Sanctuary is located. You will have free time to visit the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary the Basilica of the Holy Trinity and the Chapel of the Apparitions where Mass may be attended.
