Get ready to step into the ocean and begin a guided introduction to the essentials of snorkelling, freediving, and simple meditation techniques designed to enhance your comfort in the water. This two hour experience requires no prior snorkelling or freediving skills, as you will be supported by friendly in water guides throughout the session. Before entering the water, you will learn the fundamentals of breathing, equalisation, breath holding, and relaxation on land, helping you feel confident before exploring the marine environment. Freediving is essentially advanced snorkelling, allowing you to take a deep breath and gently dive to observe the underwater world in a calm, safe, and peaceful way suitable for all ages and abilities.
The session meets at 10 am at Plantation Point in Vincentia, with clear directions provided in advance and guidance on nearby parking. Across the year, Jervis Bay offers the chance to encounter a range of seasonal marine life including Port Jackson sharks, grey nurse sharks, giant cuttlefish, rays, dolphins, and more, although sightings can never be guaranteed in the wild. The focus of this experience is on building skills, embracing a positive mindset, and enjoying the challenge and therapeutic nature of freediving. A detailed checklist of clothing, water gear, and optional equipment is provided to ensure you arrive fully prepared for your adventure.
