Build Confidence and Ocean Awareness Through an Inspiring Eight Week Youth Freediving Program
The Ocean School Program offers an inspiring eight week journey designed to build confidence, curiosity, and essential water skills for young ocean explorers. Set in the calm and beautiful bays of Jervis Bay, each 90 minute session blends freediving, yoga, breathwork, and ocean awareness to create a meaningful connection to the sea. Students progress from basic swimming skills to using masks, snorkels, and fins, while learning safe breath holding, duck diving, and essential ocean safety principles in a controlled environment.
The program also introduces key topics such as freediving foundations, buddy safety, plastic pollution, shark behaviour, marine mammals, seaweed ecology, the Great Southern Reef, and fish identification, all taught in a fun and supportive outdoor environment. All required equipment can be provided, including quality snorkelling gear and a warm wetsuit, with the option to purchase durable dive equipment used by our students. This comprehensive approach ensures that every child feels safe, supported, and excited about their underwater journey.
Ocean School for 2026 runs during Term 1, beginning the week of 2 February, with sessions held each week from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM. Locations are shared through a private group to ensure safety and exclusivity for all participants. Classes continue in rain, with indoor lessons provided during severe weather to ensure that the learning process remains consistent and engaging. This structure allows students to maintain their momentum and continue developing their skills regardless of the external conditions.
This program aims to nurture a lifelong love for the ocean by providing children with the tools they need to explore safely and responsibly. By combining physical training with environmental education, we empower the next generation to become stewards of the marine world. Whether your child is a beginner or has some experience in the water, our expert instructors provide the guidance necessary to help them thrive and gain a deeper understanding of the complex ecosystems found within Jervis Bay.
