The Wilderness First Responder Recertification course is an intensive review and retesting of the WFR curriculum, including updated CPR training and revised protocols where treatment options have changed. Taught in partnership with Wilderness Medical Associates of Maine, this course is designed for those who already hold a current WFR certification. Participants will revisit key skills, refresh their knowledge, and ensure they are fully up to date with the latest wilderness medical standards. This course emphasizes hands-on practice, scenario-based learning, and review of essential emergency response techniques to maintain competence and confidence in remote settings.
To enroll, participants must have a current WFR certification. If your certification has expired, it is necessary to contact Wilderness Medical Associates to determine eligibility for extension or recertification. Prior to the course, students receive pre-course materials including field protocols, a recertification letter, and a study guide. These materials require several hours of review and preparation, helping participants arrive ready for the practical and written components of the course. Completing the pre-course work ensures that students can maximize their learning during the recertification sessions and remain prepared to respond effectively in wilderness emergencies.
