I received a warm welcome, but the service was terrible, the sheets were very dirty. The first day the guide was friendly, but the second day was the complete opposite. We paid a lot of money for a service that wasn't worth it. Had I known it would be like this, I would have booked with a regular agency in Rurrenabaque. They show a certain image on their website, but it's nothing like what they portray and apparently they want tips for everything; normally you give them if the service is good, and of course this service doesn't deserve it. I absolutely do not recommend this company....
Wonderful Jungle tour for 3 days and 2 nights. I was very impressed by Madidi. Our guide, Orlando, was excellent! He was very knowledgable, kind and went above and beyond to make us happy. The lodge is simple but comfortable. It is not too big, which is perfect for the experience. The food is excellent. I am gluten free and the chef was able to accommodate to my needs and make incredible gluten free food. She even made me corn flour pancakes. The excursions were excellent, we had 4 different hikes, including one at night, and tubing in the river. 100% recommend staying at Madidi Lodge! I am so glad we booked with them, we did the pampa with another operator and the experience was not the same. Madidi is the best!
Very recommendable, affordable and close to nature option to explore the Amazon rainforest! Having been to the Amazon rainforest already before in Ecuador and enjoyed it a lot I looked for a rainforest lodge around Rurrenabaque that is somewhat deeper into the rainforest, has an ecological footprint, has primary rainforest around it and not too close to Rurrenabaque – both for better chances to see wildlife. With these search criteria I ended up at either Madidi Jungle lodge (which I would categorize as “mid-range”) or the Chalalan Lodge (which is further into the rainforest but has a completely different price tag that is like premium lodges in Ecuador). I decided for Madidi Jungle and I am very satisfied with that decision: - Madidi Jungle Lodge has an extensive own trail network – so you have good options for varied walks in the rainforest both in the morning and afternoon. This is something to keep in mind also when comparing it to other lodges. - Especially the private rooms with private bathrooms are way more comfortable than what one could expect for the price tag. Only the lack of power in the rooms is something you need to be aware of but it’s clearly communicated in advance and somewhat expectable if you’re deep into nature. The water is clear and from a small stream nearby – also more than what one can expect. The rooms are well-built and well covered by insect-/moscito-mesh – based from prior experiences I was surprised by how few to no insects were in my room. - The chef of the lodge cooks very well! - Also the other staff and management is professional, committed and knowledgeable. So for all travelers who are looking for looking for a good lodge with a still reasonable price tag close to nature that focuses on the nature experience and spotting some wildlife and do not want the “survival-experience” a lot of the other backpacker places offer for small bucks I can fully recommend this lodge!
