Yhovani is an incredible guide. What he doesn't know about the birds of the Amazon isn't worth knowing. My wife and I told him we wanted to find birds and mammals in the pampas. We ended up finding over 100 species of birds (macaws, kingfishers, rheas, storks, woodpeckers and parrots) and 10 species of mammals (red and black howler monkeys, 2 species of anteaters, coati, capybaras, tayra, sloths, squirrel monkeys, dolphins, possum) in only three days. Yhovani knows the behaviour of the animals and how to find them - we never would have found them otherwise. Yhovani is also very honest and relaxed. He will let you dictate what you want to see. My wife wanted to see an armadillo and we spent an afternoon searching for one - although we didn't get lucky, it was great of Yhovani to change the itinerary. Yhovani is from the area and his love for the rainforest really comes through. You don't feel like you're with a tour guide; you feel as if you are with someone who is excited to show you their home and all of the natural splendour that fills it.
One of the best experiences I had during my 10 months travels around South America. Yhovanne knows everything there is to know about this area and the love and appreciation he has for nature and for showing it to you is obvious throughout the tour. I wish we could’ve stayed longer. I’m sure he’s one of the most authentic and ethical tour guides in Rurrenbaque and I’d recommend him to anyone who wants to go to Rurrenbaque and see the amazon the way it deserves to be seen and respected. I can’t wait to go back.
We had a great time with Yhovani! He is so passionate about wildlife and the rainforest! He never stopped looking for animals and always tried to get as close as possible. We even got to touch dolphins!
