What a great tour! Thank you Skyline Traveller and a special thanks to our great tour guide Vladimir. Vladimir was such an informative and fun guide, always coming with us and explaining the history and geographical features so that we got the most out of each place. We also had a flat tyre which he was super calm about and changed with ease in minutes. I felt in safe hands throughout the trip and he definitely went above and beyond to make our 3 days that extra bit special compared to other groups/tours. Thanks for all the photo and video tricks on the salt flats Vlad - great memories! The accommodation was better than expected with lots of blankets and duvets provided. Although if you’re going in the colder months, definitely hire the sleeping bag they offer from the office before you head off, as even in the warmer season the nighttime temperatures went below 0. The food was great too, especially considering we were so remote in places. Great quantity and quality. A highlight was definitely seeing flamingos about 3m away from me with my very own eyes. The Salt Flat experience definitely did not disappoint, a real highlight of my South America trip! 10/10 would recommend Skyline Traveller 3 day tour and you’re in luck if you get Vlad 🙏🤩
We genuinely had THE best two day experience with Alejandro! I know it is hard to trust many online reviews, but trust me when I say it was one of the best activities we have ever done. Alejandro went above and beyond every step of the way to make sure we had the best trip. You might be able to find the trip cheaper elsewhere but you will regret it- these guys make it more than worthwhile! Don’t hesitate
Some tips for anyone considering the 3D2N tour from Uyuni to San Pedro de Atacama (we had a great time): - The accommodation on both nights is cold, but not unbearable. You're give 4-5 layers of blankets on the bed, so a sleeping bag is unnecessary - It seems like every company does an identical itinerary on an almost identical schedule. The cars all look the same (Land Cruisers that are 15-20 years old). Ours was perfectly comfortable for 6 people, even in the back seats. The key is to not have huge day bags clogging things up! - We took 6 litres of water for 2 people and we ran out on the 3rd day, buying more at the hot springs. There are stops along the way selling water and snacks etc, but they are infrequent and it wasn't always clear when the next one would be. - We opted for the shared room option, but the others in our group opted for private. On the first night we all had private bedrooms with a private bathroom & shower on the first night. But we didn't get towels, toilet paper or soap etc because we opted for shared (private got this). We rented towels for 10Bs each - On the second night we also had a private room but with shared toilet (communal shower at additional cost). The people who opted for private had a private bathroom with shower, but I'm not sure if it was hot and it seemed like few people used it because it was too cold. - It didn't seem like there were any big dorm rooms in either of the accommodation. The biggest room seemed to be triple (3 single beds). - The 2nd night is indeed basic, but it's fine. You don't need to shower, nor do you really want to given how cold it is. You can freshen up a bit at the hot springs the following morning at ~7am! - Food is tasty but basic. It seemed like the food was mostly the same between groups (and companies). You won't go hungry. - They specified that you need 15Bs for the border crossing but this wasn't the case. Apparently at busy times you can pay this to skip the line, but it wasn't busy for us. - Our guide let us fill in the customs declaration forms for the Bolivian side on his phone the night before. He somehow had 3G. You also have to fill in a declaration on the Chilean side but there is WiFi there. Overall well worth the trip! Definitely just book direct rather than through one of the agencies.
