My dad and I decided to visit the museum on a whim. It was a 20-minute walk from our hotel and easy to locate. Outside the building, there are tour instructions for those who purchased tickets and those who did not. We were able to snag 2 of the last spots for the upcoming tour (they begin at the top of the hour). The guide was very knowledgeable and was able to go "off script" in answering and elaborating on some questions and answers. As 2 tall people, we enjoyed the home without bumping our heads. The stairs can be a bit scary haha, and I noticed that there is a 300 lb limit on them, if I'm not mistaken. You can stay with the guide and/or peruse the home at your leisure. The parlor of the home is turned into the museum shop, so we left with a couple of knick knacks. Lastly, we were told that there are bricks across the street purchased by donors and carved with their favorite Edgar Allen Poe quotes. So, our time at the museum extended beyond the house walls. Overall, we found it informative and appreciated learning something new!

Wanted to thank Laura and Mey for a fabulous experience and will highly recommend it at all the locations we volunteer at! Was able to book a last minute tour with the tour book add on (tickets for admission are mandatory online, saw one person that I explained they don’t have walkins so showed his where the grave is a few blocks away). The volunteers after giving the short intro and explanation allowed me to tour the house at my own pace, and answering questions when I had them. Made suggestions in the gift shop and have a feeling I will return. A great experience for locals, visitors, and history and pop culture buffs; picked up a few facts for trivia night. Will make this fact known since tickets are non refundable; visitors must be able bodied (the building is not wheelchair accessible, and there are steep stairs if you want to visit all three levels. Another possible “trigger warning” would be due to the size of the building-650? Square feet- it can feel very claustrophobic for those who are affected by small or enclosed areas

Small, but very interesting house museum. Lots of great information about Poe and his time in Baltimore. Great peek into 1830's home life of lower middle class. Can't wait to see how museum expands. The reservation system works very well

It’s a fascinating look into a period of time in Edgar Allen Poe’s life. You get to see how he lived & where he wrote. It gives you a history of his family & his work. It’s very well done & we very much enjoyed every aspect of it.

Step back in time and get a feel for one of Poe’s creative spaces. Learn about his family tree and life from the knowledgeable guides. It’s a tight space so tours are hourly and limited to about 10-15 people. Reserve ahead of time online. We enjoyed listening to the guide and reading about Poe.
