Spearfishing Course Teaches Sustainable Fishing Skills and Ocean Responsibility

A hands-on spearfishing course offers participants the opportunity to learn one of the most selective and sustainable methods of harvesting seafood. By teaching responsible practices, the program focuses on choosing legal species, respecting size limits, and taking only what is needed. Participants gain valuable knowledge about marine conservation while developing practical skills for safe and ethical underwater hunting.

The two half-day course covers essential techniques, including speargun handling, target practice, boat safety, fishing regulations, species identification, filleting methods, and preparing fresh catches. Participants can work with a range of equipment, including spearguns, pole spears, and lobstering tools, allowing them to choose gear that matches their comfort level and experience.

After successfully completing the program, participants have the option to receive a PADI or NAUI Underwater Hunter Certification card. The course is available for participants aged 15 and above, while those unable to complete the full certification can choose a guided half-day hunting trip with an experienced guide. All boats used for these experiences carry the required fishing and lobstering licenses to ensure a safe and legal adventure.

Combining skill-building, ocean awareness, and hands-on exploration, the program provides a complete introduction to sustainable spearfishing. With private instruction, professional equipment, and a strong focus on safety, participants leave with greater confidence in the water and a deeper appreciation for responsible marine practices.
