Unleash your creativity and discover the captivating art of glass fusing in this exclusive one-day workshop in Rotorua, New Zealand. This is a unique opportunity to learn from visiting UK artist Sue Tinkler, a master of her craft with over twenty years of experience. Originally a graphic designer, Sue has honed her skills through numerous international master classes, developing a distinctive style that has been featured in London galleries and the prestigious British Glass Bienalle. She brings her passion for teaching from her Hampshire studio directly to you, offering expert guidance for a truly memorable artistic experience. Your day is a hands-on journey into the world of glass. The morning session focuses on building a strong foundation, as you learn the essential techniques of glass cutting, layering, and decorating. You will experiment with creating embossed textures and working with copper to produce a selection of beautiful sample pieces. In the afternoon, you will apply this knowledge to a larger project, thoughtfully designing and assembling your very own fused glass dish or a graceful wave form. This class is a perfect introduction for anyone wanting to explore this beautiful medium. Following the workshop, your piece undergoes a careful two-stage firing and slumping process in the kiln to achieve its final, polished shape. You will leave with a deep understanding of fused glass fundamentals and your own stunning, handmade creations to take home and admire. Your finished art will be available for collection or can be posted to you after it has cooled completely overnight.
