Defensive Handgun

Defensive Handgun is an intermediate-level training course created for individuals who intend to carry a firearm daily and want to develop the skills needed to respond confidently in high-stress, real-world situations. This three-hour class is designed to maximize hands-on learning, with minimal time spent in the classroom and the majority of instruction taking place on the range. Students will focus on efficiently setting up their gear and body mechanics to draw from a holster safely and smoothly, while also learning how to manage reloads and clear malfunctions under pressure. This course builds upon foundational handgun skills and is best suited for those who have completed an Introduction to Handgun course and demonstrated proficient marksmanship.

Under the guidance of experienced instructors, participants will refine critical defensive handgun techniques through structured drills and realistic scenarios. Instruction covers firearm safety rules, proper drawing techniques, multiple reload types, and shooting fundamentals such as stance, grip, sight alignment, breathing, and trigger control. The goal is to help students develop confidence, consistency, and control while handling their firearm in defensive contexts. Targets, eye and ear protection, and professional instruction are included, with firearm and holster rentals available upon request. Students are expected to arrive with appropriate equipment, including a cased and unloaded firearm, ammunition, and a suitable holster, to ensure a safe, productive, and engaging training experience.
