⭐☆☆☆☆ Terrible Experience – Don’t Waste Your Money! We stayed here for my sister’s wedding, and it was honestly one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. They advertised that breakfast was included, but when we arrived, they charged us an outrageous amount for it. The bar was never opened, and the restaurant closed early every night, leaving guests stranded with nowhere to eat. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere, and since many guests came from Chicago without cars, finding food or anything nearby was nearly impossible. Communication was a nightmare. They fired the wedding planner right before the event and didn’t bother to inform my sister. The staff refused to clean up the grounds for the wedding until hours before the ceremony, and only did so after constant complaints. They also upcharged her for everything imaginable. The front desk staff were unfriendly and unhelpful, though I’ll give credit to the cleaning staff—they were the only kind and professional people there. The rooms were average at best but extremely overpriced. We were required to pay in full before check-in, the AC didn’t work, and when we asked for toiletries or basic accommodations, we were ignored. If you’re considering hosting a wedding here, be prepared to be treated poorly and to hire your own planner. This place is unorganized, overpriced, and only cares about squeezing every dollar from guests. Avoid this hotel at all costs—especially if you’re coming from out of town.
We had our wedding at Hacienda Labor de Rivera, and unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing. The management and owner were completely uncooperative and unprofessional — it’s clear they have no understanding of customer service or how to properly handle events of this scale. Our contract was not respected, and throughout the process they kept adding random, unexplained fees. Because we chose to bring in some external vendors, the staff took it out on us and our guests — they actually told people there was no more alcohol when there clearly was, simply because they refused to serve it. They even refused to provide water or soft drinks during parts of the event, which is unacceptable. To make matters worse, the A/C didn’t work in multiple rooms, and there weren’t enough fans provided despite the heat. The receptionist was rude and dismissive, making an already stressful situation worse. For a place that markets itself as a luxury wedding venue, the way they treated us and our guests was completely unprofessional and disrespectful. We would never recommend this venue to anyone planning an important event.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing. From the moment we checked in, the reception team set the tone — unfriendly, unhelpful, and unprofessional. Every interaction felt like we were inconveniencing them, which is not what you expect when you’re paying for a getaway. The property itself is just as poorly managed. The grounds were unkept and clearly not maintained. Overgrown areas, trash that sat out too long, and just an overall sense of neglect. On top of that, the mosquito situation was unbearable. Even after applying bug spray multiple times, we couldn’t enjoy sitting outside for more than a few minutes. It’s obvious the hotel does nothing to treat the grounds for insects, which is unacceptable given the location. Between the poor service and the lack of upkeep, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. There are far better options for the same price where you’ll actually feel welcomed and comfortable.
