Learn about the tequila-making process on this six-hour tour that begins with a visit to the agave landscape where you can admire the fields of agave with the Santiago River canyon in the background. The experience includes a professional tequila tasting guided by an expert tequila maker. You will then tour the agave plants to learn more about the cultivation process. The journey continues to a former hacienda to explore how these estates operated before the Mexican Revolution, including a grotto carved in pre-Hispanic times for water extraction, followed by lunch.
The tour also includes a visit to a distillery where you will learn the steps involved in making tequila and enjoy a tasting of tequila and agave liqueurs. Afterwards, the tour moves to the town of Tequila where you can explore the town center, visit the Jose Cuervo boutique, Casa Sauza store, and Quinta Sauza, a historic property built in 1836, with free time for shopping. Round-trip transportation from Guadalajara, entrance fees, tastings, lunch, and a certified guide are included. Participants should be ready for hotel pick-up one hour before the activity and bring comfortable clothing, shoes, sunscreen, hat, and sunglasses.
