The Gala River Front Campground offers a quiet and scenic camping experience on an eight acre parcel located at 80 Thompson Drive in Eagle Rock Virginia. The site is about thirty minutes or twenty one river miles upstream from Buchanan and provides both drive in and paddle in access, making it suitable for a variety of outdoor enthusiasts. Each campsite includes a picnic table, fire ring, and a level gravel area for tents. The campground also features a group river access area, port a potties, and a dumpster for trash. There are no utilities or water provided, so guests must bring their own drinking water. The rate is fourteen dollars per person per night plus tax with a minimum thirty six dollar camping fee, and children under five are not counted for billing purposes. Advanced reservations are required as the campground is unmanned, ensuring a peaceful and private setting for families or small groups seeking a rustic outdoor experience.
Access to the campground by road requires passing under a railroad bridge that restricts vehicles longer than twenty five feet, making the site unsuitable for large RVs. Guests can enjoy a relaxing riverside environment, explore nearby trails, or spend time at the water for recreational activities such as swimming or fishing. The campground offers a natural setting away from crowds, perfect for those looking to connect with nature and enjoy the simplicity of camping. Its combination of river access, private campsites, and basic amenities makes it an ideal choice for weekend getaways or short outdoor trips with friends and family.
