The Gala River Front Campground offers a peaceful riverside escape for campers seeking a quiet retreat in nature. Located in Eagle Rock, Virginia, this campground sits on an 8-acre parcel at the back of a working dairy farm and provides easy access to the James River. Each campsite accommodates up to six campers and includes a picnic table, fire ring, and level gravel area for tents. The campground allows both drive-in and paddle-in access, making it ideal for families, friends, and paddlers looking to spend time on the river. While the campground is unmanned, advanced reservations are required to ensure your spot. Guests should be prepared to bring all their own water and supplies as no utilities are provided.

The site is conveniently located about thirty minutes or roughly twenty-one river miles upstream from Buchanan, Virginia, where the outfitter shop is located. Campers can enjoy riverside views, easy access to the water, and a serene environment for relaxation or outdoor activities. Port-a-potties and a dumpster for trash are available on site for convenience. Due to access restrictions under a railroad bridge, vehicles longer than twenty-five feet cannot enter, so large RVs are not suitable. This campground provides a simple and rustic setting for those looking to enjoy a quiet riverside camping experience.

Our stay at the Gala was okay. The staff was very friendly. But, our cabin had a very bad smell when we first got there. We notified someone when we were at the restaurant and they did nothing about it. We still had a good time. But, we will have to find another location to stay at.

Got a overnight camping spot for a weekend late September 2023. They only have four of them from what we could tell. They have a lot of cabins, rental trailers, and seasonals. The road to the campsite was super narrow. The water connection was over 30 feet away from where we could fit our camper. Our hose is 25 feet long. Had to wedge camper between trees to get hose to fit which didn't allow for the slide out or awning to be used. The dump station was locked and they were closed on Sunday (day we left) to inquire about or pay to use. Restaurant very good food. Owner and staff were super friendly.
