The Gala River Front Campground offers a peaceful riverside escape along the James River in Eagle Rock Virginia. Nestled on an eight-acre parcel at the back of a working dairy farm, this campground provides both drive in and paddle in access for campers looking to enjoy the natural beauty of the area. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, and level gravel area for tents, making it easy to set up a comfortable base for your outdoor adventure. The campground also provides a group river access area, port a potties, and a dumpster for trash disposal, though no water or utilities are available, so visitors must bring their own supplies. Large vehicles cannot pass under the nearby railroad bridge, ensuring a quiet and intimate experience with nature for smaller vehicles and paddlers.
The site is unmanned, so advanced reservations are required to secure a spot. The location is about thirty minutes or twenty-one river miles upstream from the main shop in Buchanan Virginia, providing convenient access while still feeling remote. Campers can enjoy direct access to the river for swimming, paddling, or simply relaxing on the banks. With a minimum fee per night and flexible per-person rates, the campground accommodates families and small groups looking for a simple and rustic outdoor experience in a scenic riverside setting.
