Whitewater Kayak School

Our weekend intensive kayak school in Moab is taught by ACA certified instructors and offers an immersive and hands-on learning experience for paddlers of all levels. The course begins with an evening session on Friday, followed by two full days of on-water instruction on Saturday and Sunday. Designed specifically for hardshell river kayaking, this program is structured to progressively build your skills, confidence, and safety knowledge. Participants will have the opportunity to practice on different sections of the Colorado River and surrounding waters, experiencing a mix of calm stretches and more challenging rapids. The school offers both beginner and intermediate programs, ensuring that each paddler is placed on the right course to meet their skill level and learning goals.

The beginner level course is ideal for those with little to no hardshell kayaking experience, guiding you through the fundamentals and progressing to confidently running class II-III river sections. Participants will learn essential paddling techniques, river safety, and rescue skills, preparing them to kayak independently with confidence. The intermediate level program is designed for paddlers looking to refine their skills and take their abilities to the next level. Instructors provide coaching on advanced maneuvers such as combat rolls, precise eddy turns, and edge control, helping you to improve technique, efficiency, and river awareness. Both programs combine expert instruction with plenty of on-water practice, ensuring a comprehensive and rewarding kayaking education.
