The Wasatch Mountains offer a variety of ice climbing experiences suitable for all levels, and this half-day sampler of single-pitch ice climbing is perfect for beginners, gym climbers looking to try outdoor ice, or those returning to the sport after some time away. Did the 2-day mountain skills 1 course with Ambrose around Laragh and had a phenomenal time. Learned so much about the fundamental principles of navigation, and then got to put it into practice with feedback. Would highly recommend to anyone who's interested in learning more about mountaineering or just wants an excuse to go hiking.
I booked a day with Ambrose to complete a climb that I had struggled with in the past and to gain a bit of confidence for an upcoming trip to the Alps. Ambrose was methodical and knowledgeable, ensuring that at each belay we discussed what we had just done and what we were planning to do. The day was extremely entertaining and well worth the money.
A fantastic weekend spent in the Wicklow hills for MS1 with Ambrose. He is extremely knowledgeable and we learnt so much from him. Enjoyed the entire weekend and the great chats! Highly recommend Ambrose if you are looking to gain confidence and skills for the hills!
Excellent experience. Ambrose creates a comfortable, friendly and informative learning environment while at the same time keeping it fun even in challenging conditions. The two day course has given me the skills to keep myself and others in my company safe and comfortable on a day of hiking. This course goes far beyond using a compass, in summary I would say I've learnt to look at the bigger picture it's not all about being buried in your map. Great experience, excellent value, opens up new possibilities.
I completed my Mountain Leader 2 training with Ambrose in the Comeraghs. Ambrose is not only a high level instructor with a wealth of experience, he is also a calming and confidence building leader. Ambrose has a great ability to ensure that you bring out your natural abilities and approach tasks/challenges more confidently whilst delivering a comprehensive syllabus. He also brings great attention to detail. There is well thought out organisation in the prep before the course, even going as far as to arrange a video call for the group prior to meeting up. The follow up info and tips and advice after completion of the course is brilliant. Most importantly though, a genuinely lovely dude. I would highly recommend Ambrose for any training.
