We took a tour with Shaka in a vintage minivan. It was organised by the Chameleon Backpackers Hostel. It was great and I strongly recommend it. We learned a lot about city history, but what's more important about its citizens and day to day life. We went also to where most citizens live, a very poor area. It was a powerful experience. We tried wonderful food from a local market. Our guide Shaka was the best - nice, with a big knowledge, answered all our questions. I definitely recommend a tour with him. What's important, despite a tour going through a township and illegal settlement, I felt safe all the time.

A fantastic tour that explores Windhoek while also giving you a glimpse into the formal and informal townships. Our guides arrived well in advance, so make sure you're ready on time! They provided extensive information and went above and beyond to answer all our questions. You'll receive an energy drink and a bottle of water along the way. You'll also enjoy locally prepared beef at the township market, which is highly recommended. The tour was long enough for us. You'll be picked up and dropped off at a location of your choice.
