Begnas Lake is a serene freshwater lake located about 14 km southeast of Pokhara, offering a peaceful escape from the city’s hustle and bustle. As the third largest lake in Nepal, it is an excellent destination for travelers who prefer calm surroundings, clean water, and authentic natural beauty. Compared to the crowded Phewa Lake, Begnas Lake feels quiet, relaxed, and refreshingly untouched. The lake is surrounded by lush green hills, terraced farmlands, and small villages, providing beautiful views and a glimpse into the traditional lifestyle of the Gurung and Magar communities. On clear days, especially between October and April, the lake offers stunning reflections and distant views of the Annapurna mountain range, making it a great spot for photography and nature lovers. Visitors can enjoy boating on calm waters, either by renting a traditional wooden boat or hiring a local guide. Fishing is also popular here, and many lakeside restaurants serve fresh fish prepared in local styles. For those who enjoy walking and light adventure, there are nature trails and village paths around the lake, including routes leading toward nearby Rupa Lake. The tranquil atmosphere makes Begnas Lake ideal for relaxation, meditation, and yoga, with some resorts offering wellness and Ayurvedic retreats. Accessible by bus, taxi, or motorbike from Pokhara, Begnas Lake is a perfect destination for a slow, peaceful day immersed in nature and local culture.

Peaceful environment. Much more refreshing and quieter than the Fewa lake. The fish of Beganas lake is also famous.

After visiting Begnas Lake in Pokhara, I was completely mesmerized by its peaceful atmosphere and natural beauty. Unlike the busier Phewa Lake, Begnas felt untouched and serene, surrounded by lush green hills and rice terraces that seemed to stretch endlessly. The boat ride on the calm, glass-like water was incredibly soothing, and the reflections of the mountains and trees added to the dreamlike experience. One of the most unforgettable moments was watching the sunset-seeing the sky turn shades of orange, pink, and gold as the sun dipped behind the hills was absolutely magical. I also explored a nearby hilltop for a panoramic view of the lake and the Himalayas, which was well worth the short hike. The local food by the lakeside was fresh and delicious, especially the grilled fish. Overall, my visit to Begnas Lake was a perfect blend of relaxation, nature, and scenic beauty-an experience I'd recommend to anyone looking for a quiet escape in Pokhara.

Situated about 14 km from central Pokhara, Begnas Lake offers a tranquil escape from the city’s hustle. The lake is known for its clean waters, making it suitable for swimming and fishing. Visitors often rent boats to explore the lake or find secluded spots along the shore to relax and swim. However, some visitors have noted the presence of garbage in certain areas, so it’s recommended to choose swimming spots carefully
