This hut based three day AIARE Level 1 avalanche course offers a fully immersive backcountry learning experience in Central Colorado. The program combines classroom sessions on snow field instruction and evenings spent in a comfortable off grid mountain hut. With breakfasts and dinners included students can focus on learning while sharing fireside discussions with experienced instructors. The course is designed for new to intermediate backcountry travelers who want to understand avalanche terrain snowpack and safe travel practices in Colorado winter conditions.
Led by AIARE certified instructors with strong local knowledge the course teaches essential skills to recognize manage and reduce avalanche risk. Students learn how to use avalanche rescue equipment interpret forecasts evaluate terrain and make informed decisions as a group. Complimentary use of avalanche safety gear is available making the course accessible while maintaining a strong emphasis on hands on practice leadership and real world application in complex mountain environments.
