The Druk Path Trek is one of Bhutan’s most popular trekking adventures, offering a journey through pristine forests, high Himalayan ridges, and crystal-clear lakes at altitudes ranging from 2400m to 4200m. The trek passes through stunning landscapes with rich flora and fauna, and provides opportunities to meet yak herders living semi-nomadic lifestyles at high altitudes. The best time for this trek is from March to June or September to November when the weather is most favorable. On day two, travelers can acclimatize with a hike to the iconic Taktsang Monastery at 3120m. The trek also includes visits to cultural sites, local villages, and shopping opportunities in Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital. Moderate to difficult in rating, the trek is manageable as distances between rest camps are shorter, and it offers stunning views of Mt. Gangkar Puensum, the highest unscaled peak in the world.
This tour includes visa processing, sustainable development fees, all meals, six nights in twin-sharing 3-star hotel accommodations, and three nights full-service camping in the wilderness. Ground transportation, airport transfers, trekking permits, porters, ponies, sleeping bag liner, and an experienced English-speaking guide are also included. Travelers should bring appropriate trekking gear including hiking boots, layered clothing, rain gear, trekking pants, hats, sunglasses, insect repellent, a reusable water bottle, and a small first aid kit. The trek reaches altitudes up to 4100m, so physical fitness and acclimatization are important. Travelers should also carry any personal medicines as availability may be limited locally.
