Rob Machado’s Seaside Surfboard Redefines Performance Evolution of Go Fish Design

The Seaside surfboard, designed by professional surfer Rob Machado, represents a performance-driven evolution of his well-known Go Fish model. While the original Go Fish is celebrated for its fast, loose, and skatey feel, the Seaside introduces a more refined approach aimed at delivering tighter turns and sharper carving ability. The design maintains a balance between playful surfing and enhanced precision for more advanced maneuvers.

To achieve this upgrade in performance, Machado implemented several key design modifications. These include a reduced tail area, narrowed swallow tips, increased curve throughout the outline, and a more refined nose shape. Together, these adjustments create a board that responds more directly under pressure, allowing surfers to execute more controlled and aggressive turns while still retaining a lively ride.

The Seaside is built exclusively as a quad-fin board, with a redesigned concave and bottom contour system developed specifically for this setup. Machado reworked the hydrodynamic flow from his earlier Moonbeam and Go Fish models to optimize stability, responsiveness, and drive. This integration ensures that all design elements function cohesively, improving performance across a range of wave conditions.

Constructed using Helium technology, the Seaside is lightweight, flexible, and highly responsive, making it particularly effective in smaller beach and point break surf. The board is named after Machado’s home break, where it performs exceptionally well in local conditions. Combining refined shaping, specialized fin configuration, and modern materials, the Seaside offers surfers a versatile board that blends control, speed, and playful energy.
