Heavy Weather Sailing Workshop

Come join us on the water for an advanced sailing workshop designed to tackle the challenges of heavy weather conditions on the San Francisco Bay. This session is perfect for sailors looking to gain confidence and competence when facing stronger winds and rougher seas. Participants must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 to join the excursion, and proof of vaccination may be required. Masks are required on the boat and within the marina at the captain’s discretion, helping to ensure the safety and comfort of everyone on board. The workshop lasts approximately four hours, although the exact timing may vary depending on wind, tides, and overall weather conditions. It’s an immersive, hands-on experience that emphasizes both practical skills and safety awareness, giving sailors the opportunity to practice real-world techniques under challenging conditions.

During this workshop, participants will focus on mastering boat handling in winds exceeding 25 knots, a common scenario on the Bay. You will learn how to trim sails effectively, maintain balance, and make strategic decisions to navigate safely in heavy weather.
