This exclusive six-week Sketch Comedy elective, led by ensemble member Laura Maynard, is your chance to dive deep into the art of comedy writing and performance right here in Amsterdam. Laura brings her university degree in Comedy Writing and Performance to guide a small group of creators through a dynamic and collaborative process. Your journey begins in an energetic writers room, a creative space where you will learn the fundamentals of sketch structure, character development, and punchline perfection. We will brainstorm, write, and improvise together, turning fledgling concepts into hilarious scenes. The second half of this immersive course shifts from page to stage. As the writers room transitions into a full rehearsal process, you will see your creations come to life. Under Lauras expert direction, the ensemble will refine, block, and polish the sketches you developed. This is where the magic happens, as individual scenes are woven together into a cohesive and completely original sketch show. The entire six-week experience culminates in a thrilling final performance for a live audience on the main stage at our Amsterdam theater.
