Sewing Lesson: Tote Bag (Amsterdam West)

Always wanted to start sewing but don’t know where to begin. This beginner-friendly lesson at our Sewing Café is the perfect introduction. During this hands-on session, you will create a simple yet stylish tote bag using a kit that includes organic cotton fabric and hemp straps. You can choose your preferred colors during the class and learn the essential basics of using a sewing machine. The lesson is shared with other beginners working on tote bags or similar projects, creating a supportive and inspiring environment. Guidance is provided by an experienced fashion designer, ensuring you receive personal attention while learning new skills.

In this session, you will be introduced to threading the machine, cutting fabric, creating straight seams, finishing seams with zig-zag stitches, making basic hems, and crafting squared corners. This class is suitable for complete beginners or those with some experience who want to refresh their sewing skills. Instruction is provided in both Dutch and English, allowing everyone to follow along comfortably. By the end of the session, you will leave with a handmade tote bag and a solid foundation in basic sewing techniques.
