Big Sheep Camp is a backcountry base located behind Wing Ridge, accessible via Salt Creek Summit, the highest SnoPark in the Wallowa Mountains at six thousand two hundred feet. Guests typically travel three miles with light day-packs over a seven thousand five hundred foot saddle along Wing Ridge Trail 1828, which eliminates the first-day slog and allows for skiing or exploring on the way to and from the camp, located at six thousand four hundred feet on the 100 road. For those who prefer not to carry gear, a round trip porter service is available for a small fee. Alternatively, guests can carry their own equipment and take the four mile flat route via Wagon Road Trail, offering a less strenuous approach to the camp. This remote location provides scenic views and excellent backcountry skiing opportunities for small groups.
The camp features two separate sleep cabins designed to accommodate up to five guests each, with shared facilities including a twenty foot kitchen yurt and a sauna for relaxation after a day in the mountains. An exclusive use option allows groups of up to twelve people to book the entire camp, providing privacy and flexibility. Big Sheep Camp combines rustic charm with essential amenities, offering a functional and comfortable base for backcountry skiing or outdoor adventures. Guests can enjoy the solitude of the Wallowa Mountains, explore challenging terrain, and return to cozy accommodations that support both relaxation and socializing in a pristine wilderness setting.
