Embark on an unforgettable bioluminescent kayak adventure through the stunning waters of Florida’s Indian River and Mosquito Lagoon. During the warmer months, dinoflagellates light up the water with every movement, creating mesmerizing trails of blue-green light, while in cooler months, the gentle glow of Comb Jellies adds magic to the serene waterways. Glide past manatees, stingrays, and schools of fish, each stroke of your paddle illuminating the water in a spectacular natural display. This experience allows you to witness one of Central Florida’s most extraordinary natural phenomena without having to travel far from the city, making it perfect for both nature enthusiasts and casual explorers. Tandem kayaks are primarily used for comfort and stability, with single kayaks available when needed to accommodate different party sizes and preferences. Guided by certified and experienced staff, the tour ensures safety, education, and maximum enjoyment. Multiple exclusive launch sites offer the best viewing opportunities for bioluminescence, while high-quality kayaks and intuitive service make the experience seamless. We booked the mondo combo, consist of manatee/dolphin, bird sanctuary and the bioluminescent tour. Total of 3 hr kayaking. We had a great time, specially spending time with our kids. Our guides Jorge and Caleb were super nice and very informative! Thank you. ☺️ FYI: bring your cell phone but make it's in a waterproof case.

I highly recommend taking a Kayak Bioluminescence Tour with the A Day Away company. My family and I took a tour in December 2025 on the Indian River Lagoon with Zoe, who was the best tour guide. Zoe was well-prepared, informative, funny, had great energy to share. It was clear that Zoe loved being on the water and giving tours. I think the only downside - which had nothing to do with Zoe or the company - was that there seemed to be a little too much light pollution in the nearby area to fully appreciate the bioluminescence. Because we went during the holidays, there were Christmas lights on the waterfront properties, and a holiday party boat came around with some lights which I think made it harder to see the comb jellies. The tennis courts nearby also had really bright lights. It would be really great if the city had an ordinance of windows of time where the lights had to be off, kind of what light Cape Canaveral does for the beach at night to protect the nesting turtles. Other than that, we really enjoyed the kayak ride and holding the glowing, squishy comb jellies in our hands. We learned a lot and had fun!

We had a phenomenal time and experience with Matt. We were able to learn a lot about the history of the canal and Indian river as well as all the wildlife in the area. We had a blast having the manatees coming right up to our kayaks and even got up close with a couple of dolphins! 10/10 recommend

What a lovely experience! We took the 7:30 PM bioluminescent tour with Drew. My husband and I kayak a lot but have never been comfortable kayaking in the dark; doing so with a guide was great. Drew was very knowledgeable and we learned a ton and he told just enough jokes to be charming and light without feeling forced and annoying. There were a total of 8 guests in 4 tandem kayaks and it felt like a great balance. Enough people to ask questions we hadn’t thought of but small enough to all stay together and not get in each other’s way. We came at a time when there was not a ton of bioluminescent specimens but Drew found some comb jellies and took the time to let us experience them up close. There were dolphins that swam up close, a manatee and tons of birds that all delighted us in place of tons of bioluminescent activity (nature is nature) and kayaking in the dark was wonderful. The price is also very reasonable! I highly recommend this tour. If you’re coming at a time that is not prime season for bioluminescent activity it is still 100% worth it! Thank you to Drew for a great trip!

We took a tour last Saturday at eight with BRENDAM. I have two younger children between six and 10. He was very patient. Very informative. Very fun. Did I mention patient :-) would definitely recommend along with lots of bug spray
