This two day sailing course is designed as an ideal introduction for beginners or as a refresher for those with some previous experience. The course runs from nine am to five pm on consecutive days and provides participants with the knowledge and skills needed to skipper a sloop rigged keelboat between twenty and twenty seven feet in length under light to moderate wind conditions up to fifteen knots. Students will learn basic sailing terminology, the functions of boat parts, helm commands, sail trim, and points of sail. The course also covers essential seamanship skills, safety procedures, and basic navigation rules to help avoid collisions and hazards on the water. Auxiliary power operation is not required for this course, making it focused entirely on sailing techniques and safe handling of the boat under wind power.

The course includes study materials for participants to review both before and after practical lessons, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of sailing fundamentals. Classes require a minimum of two students to run, allowing for personalized guidance and ample hands on practice. By the end of the two day course, participants will be able to confidently operate a sloop rigged keelboat during daylight hours and in moderate weather conditions. The course emphasizes practical learning, safety awareness, and building confidence on the water, providing a solid foundation for further sailing adventures.
