I contacted Saul @ Chapala Tours inquiring about a trip to Guachimontones and he tried diligently to arrange for me to go with a group of four or more. Unfortunately there were no tours presently that I could join as a single person. Then he went the extra step to see what a private tour would be for me alone, as he knew I really wanted to go. It turned out the private tour was quite reasonable and included pick up at my home and returning me after tour was completed. No hassle with bus/taxi and joining a group in Guadalajara. Everything worked out for the better at an affordable price considering the package deal. I was very pleased and impressed with his follow up the same day to make sure everything went smoothly.
