This four day wilderness adventure takes paddlers down the Upper James River Water Trail, offering a mix of scenic beauty, rapids, and remote camping. The trip begins just below the confluence of the Jackson and Cowpasture Rivers where the James River is formed. Over the course of four days, participants cover a total of forty four and three tenths miles, with day one spanning seven point eight miles, day two seventeen point five miles, day three fifteen miles, and day four four miles. The journey includes primitive campsites and access to resupply points on days two and three. Paddlers navigate fun rapids along the way while enjoying miles of remote wilderness and the Virginia Scenic River Section. This trip provides an ideal opportunity for families or groups of friends to disconnect from daily life and immerse themselves in nature while paddling and camping along a beautiful river corridor. For safety, a minimum of two participants is required.

Pricing for the trip includes boat rental, paddles, life jackets, safety orientation, river maps, use of dry bags, five gallon water jugs, access to private camping land, and all required shuttles. The final day concludes with a shuttle pick up at ten thirty AM at Alpine. Participants are responsible for bringing personal camping gear, food, and other supplies. The trip emphasizes self-sufficiency while providing the support of shuttles and access to private camping locations. With challenging rapids, scenic wilderness, and flexible daily distances, this four day journey offers a memorable and immersive river experience suitable for those with prior paddling experience and an appreciation for the outdoors.
