Set sail along the peaceful waterways of the Hawkesbury River and immerse yourself in the natural rhythms of one of Australia’s most pristine marine environments. As you glide across calm waters toward the saltwater paddocks, you will discover why this unique ecosystem is recognised as one of the finest regions for cultivating oysters and nurturing pearls. The landscape blends rugged bushland with sparkling river channels, creating the perfect conditions for both marine life and meaningful human connection. Throughout the journey, the river reveals its own story, shaped by tidal flows, generations of growers, and the powerful relationship between people and place.

Upon reaching the working oyster lease, you are invited into the hidden world of oyster farming and pearl cultivation. Learn how oysters begin their life cycle, how they grow, and how skilled farmers determine whether they will be destined for the plate or for the creation of a radiant pearl. This experience gives you the opportunity to personalise your visit with optional activities that showcase the true craftsmanship behind local seafood and pearl production. Whether you choose to taste freshly harvested oysters, uncover the mysteries of pearling, or explore the art of pearl grading, this experience offers an enriching and authentic connection to the river.

We went on a farmtour with a group of students and it couldn‘t have been better! The organisation was perfect, just as the time management. Our guide Colm went out of his way to make this trip a truely unforgettable experience for all of us!

Our FFA Chapter had an absolutely phenomenal experience with Farm Tours Ireland. Colm and Aonghus truly went the extra mile to make our tour authentic and memorable. The tour was perfectly paced for high school students - packing enough in to keep them from getting bored, but also ensuring that the activities, tours, and farms were high quality and educational. I was very impressed with their ability to explain how Irish culture, geography, social, and political factors impacted Irish agriculture and why things are done the way they are. It was an incredible learning experience for my students and they couldn't say enough good things about the tour and our tour guides. I would highly recommend Farm Tours Ireland for anyone looking for a life changing experience learning about agriculture.

Unforgettable 16-Day Study Tour with Farm Tours Ireland! We recently completed a 16-day study tour with Farm Tours Ireland, bringing 27 dairy farmers from Australia — and we couldn’t be more impressed! From start to finish, the experience was professional, personal, funny, and intriguing. We had Farm Tours booked majority of our trip, from the coach, hotels, dinners and farm visits, they hit the mark each and every time. The small family team at Farm Tours Ireland was incredibly fast and responsive, handling every detail with care and precision. They were adaptable and efficient, seamlessly adjusting plans to suit our group’s needs without ever compromising on quality. Colm met all of us at the airport with a smile on his face - which never faulted throughout our travels. He joined in with the banter of the group, with Colm and Aonghus joining in on Australian traditions whilst teaching us the Irish way simultaneously. The personal stories, Irish charm and genuine connections really made the tour valuable and special. Colm, Aonghus, Gerry and Phil brought a sense of family and friendship which is hardly seen in experiences like these! Our group came away not only more knowledgeable but inspired and entertained as well. If you're looking for a study tour that delivers on all fronts — information, organization, and personality — Farm Tours Ireland is second to none. On behalf of the young dairy farmers on Australia, we thank you for welcoming us into your world, and you have truly made being away from home and overseas less scary! Highly recommend

Colm took my wife and I on a farm tour during our vacation to Ireland. It was by far our favorite part of our vacation. Colm and his father were very nice and easy to talk to. They were professional but still friendly and liked to joke around. I would highly recommend using Farm Tours Ireland to plan a farm tour while you’re on vacation. Whether your group is small, like ours, or much larger these guys can take care of you. My wife and I farm in KS so we wanted to get more of a technical farm tour as opposed to the regular “touristy” farm tour. This was exactly what we wanted. They took us to two different farms where we were able to meet with the farmers, walk through their fields and discuss their operations. The differences in our operations were vast, yet they were still very similar in many aspects. At our first farm stop, the farmer who I am forgetting the name of, was great to talk to and learn from. At our second stop we were able to see harvest in action which was amazing! If you want a less technical tour then they can do that do too. I’m sure that your group will be blown away by the farm tour and hospitality of Colm, his parents and the local farmers. If you plan to go to Ireland for vacation then a farm tour with Colm & company is a must do!!!

My husband Frank and I are retired dairy farmers from Michigan, traveled to Ireland with our daughter/husband for two weeks mid June/early July 2022. She set up with Aonghus our all-day farm tour. It was the highlight of our trip! We very much enjoyed interacting with Gerry, our tour host, and Phil, who met us at our hotel in Dublin and drove us to all the spots (two dairies, both grass-based, one robotic and the other parlor; one impromptu sheep farm; two historical spots along the way, and a fabulous lunch spot where they knew everyone). Gerry, with his dairy nutrition expertise, was super knowledgeable about agriculture in Ireland, very personable - we picked up immediately on contrasts with USA dairy, and how Ireland manages their cow numbers and farm sizes, encourages "green" practices, and subsidizes upgrading equipment and facilitates young people like our last stop, who want to get into farming. We were impressed how Irish farmers work with nature and the environment, guided by sometimes quite restrictive regulations by the gov't. We appreciated both Gerry and Phil's running commentaries during the rides, their getting to know us and vice versa. It's obvious they enjoy what they do, and tailored our experience to what we had hoped for - a low-key, low-stress, enjoyable get-to-know Ireland farming, talk-with-the-locals visit.
