The crew and helm courses each run over two full days, with lessons from 9am to 3pm. You can complete your chosen course on any days that suit you — there's no need to do both days on the same weekend. When booking, you’ll simply select your preferred Day 1 and Day 2. If you wish to complete both the Start Crewing and Start Helming courses, you can book in normally and the team will contact you to arrange suitable dates for the helming sessions. Start Crewing is the ideal introduction to keelboat sailing, designed especially for beginners.

Once you’ve completed Start Crewing, Start Helming is the natural next step along the Australian Sailing pathway. This course expands your knowledge and skills, helping you learn how to prepare the boat, steer with confidence, trim sails on all points of sail, and perform a man overboard recovery while at the helm. Led by passionate and highly experienced instructors, the training blends theory with plenty of hands-on practice. Life jackets are provided — simply bring sun-safe clothing, sunscreen, non-marking shoes, and water.
