Hotel is in a great location with stunning views and the staff are absolutely working their best with what they have, they couldn’t be nicer. And that’s where it ends… We booked a sea view room with a double bed and I feel the room description is misleading. The double beds are actually 2 singles clipped together and not even with a large mattress, resulting in a very uncomfortable bed with a chasm down the middle, the mattresses were also old and stained. No fridge in the room, we bought lactose free milk with us as it’s not available in the hotel, it subsequently went sour. There’s no toilet brush in the bathroom, no body wants to leave a stained toilet for their partner or housekeeping and I’m sure housekeeping agree!!! Heating is set by the hotel, so if it’s a cold afternoon you have to wait for evening. Breakfast option in the room is a typical 1980’s door card although the kitchen did accommodate our request for scrambled egg on toast, Omelette was beyond reach though. The restaurant is superb for dinner and very reasonably priced with a varied menu to suit all tastes. Unfortunately though I wouldn’t stay here again.

Beautiful hotel stepped in history, the gray lady ghost room is a very nice touch. Although we did not experience any ghostly activities, the rooms are spacious with window ledge cushions viewing the sea are a must. The restaurant is a pleasant place to dine ask for the tables near the suit of armour for the best dining experience.

Lovely hotel, situated in an old castle at the seaside. Besides the rain, what else could you whish for. Staff was friendly and efficient. Restaurant and breakfast were good and the bar offered enough for everyones taste.

Great hotel and lovely food. Comfortable rooms though I found it quite warm. They had a fan for the table to cool the place down. I had to keep it running in order to get a proper sleep as it was a scorching day outside. Couldn't open the windows due to a swarm of flys. But that was nothing the hotel could do about. Clean bathroom and bedroom and bedclothes

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Wonderful ocean view room. Great walking through the gardens and along the beach across the road. We dined and had good food but service dropped off at the end - had to let them know at the front desk that we didn’t get our bill. Not a problem. Breakfast was delicious! Loved the history, the ghost tower, the ocean view lounge. Great stop on our road trip!
