Beware the jaunting carts. They are back and forth all the time. Before you get in with a driver negotiate the following: should be 35 euro per person. They should go at a slower speed and include many stops at scenic points for pictures. Journey should be 1.5 hours by jaunting car. Our ponymen raced us through at 1hour. Didn’t stop for photos. Didn’t talk to us. Probably best with one of the older drivers. The actual service of the bus and boat beforehand was excellent and good value.
The journey through the Gap of Dunloe was for sure the most memorable part of my trip! It was amazing to see the lakes and nature all around from the boat! As for the jaunting car trip, unfortunately I don't remember the name of the driver, but he was driving a pony named Rosie. Thank you for taking us! He made our trip wonderful, told us so much about the community around and his life, it was very interesting and heartwarming! Everyone seems to know each other and they're very kind and friendly. I'd do it again! ☺️
Mostly enjoyable experience. The boat ride through the lakes was stellar with the boatman providing details of the surroundings. The pony man really made the cart ride part of the journey fun with jokes and bit of history. The bus rides on each end - not so much especially since the end of day bus ride was in a bus with no AC and no windows to open on a very warm day. Still worth the trip just for the views.
