The best experience yet in Sofia, besides the good food, the staff was very good and friendly. Not to forget, the Bulgarian folklore music and dances and lastly the dance on Fire... Spectacular yet risky. Highly recommended.
People go here for the show more than for the food. The food was fine but not special. After dinner there is a folk music and dance demonstration inside and then a fire walking show outside. The walls are filled with folk art and memorabilia. Staff were nice but they seemed so rushed you couldn't get their attention if you needed their attention.
Vodenitsata is a landmark restaurant in the foothills of the Vitosha mountain in a suburb of Sofia. It has been around for 55+ years. I love going there. They offer an extensive traditional Bulgarian menu. The food is really nice (tip:ask the waiters for recommendations). The service is excellent: polite, attentive staff. Vodеnitsata is the ONLY place around Sofia where you can see firewalkers. They also have a program with traditional dance and music. You need a car or taxi to get there. The road is being repaired, and there's a rough patch. (This is not the restaurant's fault; just something to be aware of. Also, the road work will likely be completed by the end of the summer 2025.) If you are not familiar with the area and there's still roadwork, take a cab.
