We had an excellent day trip from Sofia to Plovdiv and Assen Fortress, and a big part of that was thanks to our tour leader, Philip. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and extremely well-organized from start to finish. Philip shared fascinating insights about Bulgarian history and culture along the way, making the journey both informative and enjoyable. In Plovdiv, he guided us through the Old Town at a perfect pace, pointing out details we would have easily missed on our own, while still giving us enough free time to explore and enjoy the city. His professionalism, sense of humor, and genuine passion for what he does really stood out. The whole day felt relaxed, well-planned, and personal rather than rushed or overly scripted. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Bulgaria — and if you’re lucky enough to have Philip as your guide, you’re in great hands.

We booked a Rila monastery and thermal spa trip via Get your guide. The day trip itself was good and well planned, our guide was also very friendly and informative. The communication from the company was helpful both via email and WhatsApp telling us the meeting point, time to meet, name of guide and itinerary etc. The meeting point was easy to find in a central location and the coach arrived on time with the guide standing outside meeting and greeting customers. The guide gave the option of staying with him for a guided tour or exploring at our own leisure which worked well for us. The negative to the day was the journey itself. The coach was so hot inside, everyone was complaining and taking clothes off and the seats were very cramped making us hotter still. We stopped on the way for a toilet and coffee stop and were told to be back on the coach in 15 minutes so we did as instructed however the driver and guide decided to stay inside the cafe for 35 minutes leaving us and other customers sat on the coach waiting. We lost valiable time waiting around on a coach which would could have been spent at the monastery or spa. Another customer even commented on the coach saying it was the longest 15 minutes they had ever known. Overall a good day out and we would book with them again but there is room for improvements on the journey.

We did the monastery and spa springs trip with Philippe. He was an outstanding guide and went deep into Bulgarian history and brought a fresh approach to the spiritual history as well. Our tour was one of the best parts of the whole trip and I highly recommend- particularly with this guide!

Philip was an amazing tour guide. We had a lovely small group. Philip was very educational, we really learned a lot! We went to Serbia and Macedonia. He was so much fun! We actually booked it the day before, and there were only 5 of us in the group. HIGHLY suggest this tour group, so reasonably priced for what you get! Do it!!!
