Very poor and far getting to fire pit with no good steps or hand rail. There is no swimming at the end of the line site or good access to river. The first aid kit was a joke and no snake bite kit. NOT WORTH DOING.
We went on castaway caboose in June and the employees were absolutely wonderful! We had to leave early due to my daughter being sick. John went above and beyond to help us. Andrew and him made sure it was a memorable experience for my son. All of us loved it and ask us multiple times a week when we are going back. It was a beautiful place to camp. I cannot say enough wonderful things about everyone there and their kindness meant so much to us.
Just got back from the Castaway Caboose and had an awesome time! Kids loved it, and we were there with another family so they were able to put both cabooses at the same camp site which made for a great time. Super nice and accommodating folks, and the cleaning crew does a fantastic job. No worries about having a “dirty cabin” feel here. Hiking consists of walking down the tracks, but the kiddos loved playing in the river more than anything else. Pulled out one 6” brook trout over a couple hours of fishing. Hevener station has the more readily available access to a fishing hole if that is your thing. Love getting back to nature and unplugging from all the electronics for a couple of days, but there is also a hot shower at the end of the day. Definitely put it on your list if you are lucky enough to score some reservations.
